The National Secretary for Communication of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) informs that PCRN members are observing with calm, serenity, and responsibility the scandalous and marginal actions orchestrated by Minister Atanga Nji. In addition to the Minister of Territorial Administration, he also denounces various pressures from other government members.
The PCRN officially responds to the press conference held yesterday, Thursday, in Yaoundé by Robert Kona, the former national president of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN). In a statement released on Friday, December 15, 2023, Armand Okol, the National Secretary for Communication of this opposition political party, clarifies the issue.
“The PCRN was informed of the meeting held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in a Yaoundé hotel, between the press and the former National President of the Party, Mr. KONA Robert, with obvious support from individuals and personalities in the shadows,” denounces Armand Okol. He also informs that the title “Founding President” does not exist in the statutes of the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN).
“While the PCRN congress is prohibited in Kribi due to threats of public disorder, Mr. KONA, to our great surprise, obtained a declaration receipt from the Sub-prefect of Yaoundé 1st in his capacity as ‘Founding President,’ a role that is neither in the original party statutes dating back to 2003 nor in the revised statutes of the Extraordinary Congress of Ngaoundéré in 2022, which he also endorsed,” reads the statement.
“This public meeting was notably punctuated by a staged performance whose purpose was evidently to portray an image of a political party facing internal divisions or tensions among its members. We affirm that this is not the case. The confusionary maneuvers orchestrated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the multifaceted pressures from several government members to undermine the proper functioning of the PCRN are evident to all. PCRN members are observing with calm, serenity, and responsibility these scandalous and marginal actions,” concludes the National Secretary for Communication.
