President Paul Biya proceeded on Tuesday, December 19, to the appointment of a Director General at the General Directorate of External Research (DGRE). Maxime Eko Eko is no longer the director-general of the General Directorate of External Research (DGRE).

According to a presidential decree dated December 19, President Paul Biya appointed Jean Pierre Ghoumo as the head of the DGRE. The newly appointed official is a former technical adviser to the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic. In his role, Jean Pierre Ghoumo will be assisted by Eloundou Mesmin Magloire as the deputy.

It is worth noting that the now former head of the DGRE, Maxime Eko Eko, is incarcerated in the central prison of Kondengui. He is implicated in the investigation into the assassination of journalist Martinez Zogo. His dismissal comes a few days after the aborted release of Maxime Eko Eko and Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga from the Kondengui prison.”
